28th August 2014 – Market Update

The SPY has continued to show strong signs of recovery from the initial correction and we had sort of a jackpot week, with many of the called trades last week pending out very nicely. EBAY popped almost 5-6% on a single day and there were also great trades done in UNH, NOV, WMT. The next SharesEdge Foundations Course will be held on the 27th of September 2014; it will be an intensive full day session, supplemented with 12 webinars, priced at $888. Click here to register, seats are on a limited basis only.

The SPY has recovered as expected from the correction once again but I recommend to still trade with reduced size as most of the stocks have not been showing strength despite the SPY’s strong recovery. This could be due to bigger component stocks of the SPY staging a stronger recovery, but from a broad market perspective this may not be the case. Valuations are also not terribly attractive now; so my focus would be mainly on trading rather than investing itself.

The market in general has been in correction mode for the last 1-2 weeks and I’m starting to stalk for long opportunities again even though there are less as compared to the last round of sell-off. Stay cautious as the 50day MA on the index has started to flatten out and could head south if the selling becomes incessant.
